3. AI Processing

3.1 How AI Is Used

Your uploaded documents are processed by AI to:

• Extract topics and subtopics
• Generate practice questions
• Provide explanations with source references

3.2 AI Data Handling

• Document text is sent to AI services for processing
• We use OpenAI-compatible APIs for question generation
• AI providers may process data according to their own policies
• We do not use your content to train AI models

3.3 Data Minimization

We send only the necessary text excerpts to AI services, not entire documents when possible.

4. Data Storage and Security

4.1 Where Data Is Stored

4.2 Security Measures

We implement industry-standard security measures including:

• Encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS)
• Encryption at rest for stored data
• Secure password hashing
• Row-level security for database access
• Regular security updates

4.3 Data Retention

• Active Accounts: Data retained while your account is active
• Deleted Accounts: Data permanently deleted within 30 days of account deletion
• Cached Data: Temporary processing data deleted after 24 hours

7. Your Rights and Choices

7.1 Access and Export

You can view your learning data within the Service. Contact us to request a full export of your data.

7.2 Correction

You can update your account information and document metadata at any time.

7.3 Deletion

You can delete individual documents, study sessions, or your entire account. Account deletion removes all associated data within 30 days.

7.4 Communication Preferences

You can opt out of non-essential emails. Account-related emails (security, billing) cannot be opted out.

7.5 Do Not Track

We do not currently respond to "Do Not Track" browser signals.

8. Children's Privacy

8.1 Age Requirement

The Service is intended for users aged 13 and older.

8.2 Parental Consent

Users under 18 must have parental permission. Parents may contact us to:

• Review their child's information
• Request deletion of their child's data
• Withdraw consent for data collection

8.3 COPPA Compliance

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn we have collected such information, we will delete it promptly.

8.4 Educational Use

If the Service is used in an educational setting, the school or teacher is responsible for obtaining necessary parental consents.
